Why Choose BCCIS?

Canadian Diploma

Our BCCIS students receive the same Dogwood Diploma and B.C. transcripts, graduation certificates issued by the B.C. Ministry of Education and Child Care, as students who attend schools in British Columbia.

B.C. Offshore School

BCCIS East is a fully accredited British Columbia Ministry of Education Offshore School. It is one of approximately 50 B.C. Offshore Schools worldwide and is inspected on an annual basis to ensure high standards and a quality education.

Personal Education Number

Our students receive their Personal Education Number (PEN) from the B.C. Ministry of Education. This indicates that their enrollment in the B.C. program is the same as students in British Columbia.

8th Globally

In the most recent PISA assessment Canada is ranked 8th with British Columbia among the three best provinces. In comparison, the UK is ranked 13th and the USA 25th. The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an international assessment that measures 15-year-old students’ reading, mathematics, science and literacy every 3 years. The assessment is designed so that cross-curricular competencies such as collaborative problem solving, critical thinking. The PISA program is coordinated throughout about 80 countries by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), an intergovernmental organization of industrialized countries.

Accreditation

The accreditation and quality assurance process that B.C. offshore schools must go through to be fully certified is unlike any other school in Egypt. The annual inspection is performed by a team of experienced inspectors from the B.C. Ministry of Education. These professionals spend almost a week at the school examining criterion like teacher certification, curricular compliance, student documentation, policies/processes, safety compliance, etc. to ensure we maintain the very highest standards of education that equals students in Canada. Upon the successful completion of the inspection an annual report is published and BCCIS is re-certified as a B.C. Offshore School.

Certified Teachers

Our teachers at BCCIS are required to be fully certified by the British Columbia Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) and employment at BCCIS schools must be reported to the TRB on an annual basis. British Columbia certified teachers are among the most qualified in the world as they are required to complete a minimum of 5 years of post-secondary education including a recognized teacher education program. This ensures that the high standards of teaching in the B.C. Offshore School Program is consistent with the expectations for teachers within the Province of British Columbia, For more detailed information about the British Columbia teacher certification process
