Terry Fox

Terry Fox was a Canadian who at the young age of 18, after being diagnosed with cancer, underwent surgery that resulted in the amputation of his right leg. At the age of 22 he decided to embark on a journey, running across Canada to raise money and awareness for cancer research. After having run 5,373 km over 143 days, he had to stop as his cancer had spread to his lungs. He died not long after but he remained strong, inspiring Canadians until the end. He continues to be a source of inspiration as people around the world continue to honour his legacy. BCCIS East honours this event every year and if parents wish to make a donation to this cause, they can do so through our Terry Fox Run. Their child should bring the money directly to their teacher who will be in charge of donations.
