THE ADVANTAGE

BCCIS Curriculum

Promoting creativity and a love of learning is the principal mission of our primary program. Our rich, interdisciplinary curriculum focuses on inquiry, discovery, and character development. We understand that children need to be motivated and deeply engaged in their learning to encourage growth as independent, responsible, critical thinkers.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program

The most important goal of our early childhood curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners. This means encouraging them to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and think their own thoughts. We hope that they become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners in an environment that is developmentally appropriate.
Additionally, we create opportunities for them to learn at their own pace and in the ways that best suit their developmental level. Our ECE program provides the foundation of skills and attitudes that prepare them for the elementary (Grades 1 to 6), middle (Grades 7to 9), and secondary grades (Grades 10 to 12) at BCCIS.

The British Columbia Curriculum

The British Columbia curriculum has been designed for teaching and learning in the 21st century. The goal is for our BCCIS students to graduate with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they will need once they leave our schools.

The B.C. Ministry of Education provides the following overview of the curriculum:

Key Features
At the heart of British Columbia’s redesigned curriculum are the Core Competencies, along with essential literacy and numeracy foundations. Together, these three features contribute to deeper learning.

Arabic Studies

Our vision for teaching Arabic at British Columbia Canadian International School is to achieve leadership and excellence in teaching and publishing Arabic in educational, research, and entertainment contexts. We also aim to encourage and stimulate the creative energies of students through:

● A safe learning environment that promotes creative and scientific thinking.

● A comprehensive curriculum based on the standards of the Ministry of Education, incorporating international education methods and the Canadian system.
